| Bio: | Foltan is an El-Aurian, 714 earth-years of age. He comes from an alternate future, dominated by a warlike Federation that has conquered most of the major powers in the alpha quadrant. Foltan was once a member of a resistance group against the Federation, and worked with ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} capt_terminal aboard the captured USS Vorzakk. When the resistance was defeated and the Vorzakk recovered by Starfleet, Foltan was sentenced to life in a forced labor camp. After 23 years, Foltan played a role in an escape party, and managed to free himself from Starfleet. He has spent the last eight years on the run, staying on the fringes of Federation space and trying to assist loosely controlled worlds in any small way he can.Foltan's history is a long and painful one. As a young man early in his second century, he and his wife worked as asteroid miners in the outer El-Aurian star system. A mining accident killed his first wife, and left a scar on his face that he has neglected to repair. After his wife's death, Foltan decided to leave the system, and joined the El-Aurian Exploration Corps. During an expedition to the primitive planet Earth, circa 1892, his team's shuttle exploded while in high orbit. Foltan, who was planetside, was presumed dead. He made a life for himself in Frankfurt, Germany, and later married a human woman, Klara. But Klara's father was Jewish, and when the Nazi government began their policy of relocating Jews, she was taken from him. He spent several years searching for her, with no success. After the German conquest of France, Foltan moved to France and joined the Maquis against the occupying Germans. Foltan was eventually rescued in 1949. His experience on Earth gave him a strong hatred for any totalitarian regime. Centuries later, a coup led by the anti-Surak Vulcan Admiral Saren overtook the United Federation of Planets, in response to an attack on Earth by Romulan rogues. Saren's Federation became paranoid and belligerent. Foltan joined the First, and later, the Second Resistance against the Federation, both of which were crushed. After escaping from Federation prison and several years on the lam, Foltan fell through a strange anomoly, dubbed an "unreality pocket," along with capt_terminal, who was brough to this timeline by members of our Starfleet during a time-travel mission. Foltan and capt_terminal both emerged on this side of the anomoly, stranding Foltan in this universe (not that he minds, having ultimately escaped his nightmarish Federation).Though Foltan's time on Earth was fairly brief in El-Aurian terms, he feels a particular kinship with humans and with Earth in general, despite a vague dislike of Starfleet and the Federation (even before the divergence of his timeline). He often uses anachronistic Earth speech habits, though many of these likely arose from his friendship with capt_terminal, rather than his earlier experiences.This journal is maintained by ducttapeavenger. | |
